Planning Our Vegetable Gardens
This week we have been using measurement to plan out our vegetable gardens. We measured the gardens and then had to figure out how many pea plants we could plant in the space.

Measuring fun
This week T13 and T14 have been exploring how we can measure length.
Our first challenge was to find things around the studio that were longer than, shorter than and the same as our foot measure.
We had to work with a buddy and show Kotahitanga.
It was tricky finding things that were exactly the same length as our foot.
We took photos on the iPad using Book Creator to show what we had found.

Sprouting seeds
In Tī Kōuka we have been sprouting seeds and observing what happens.
We sprouted alfalfa, mung beans and peas.
Each day we looked to see what the seeds were doing.
We recorded our observations in a seed diary. The alfalfa seeds sprouted first.
The mung bean seed split and had a long root.
On Day 9, we tasted the alfalfa and mung bean sprouts.
The peas hadn't sprouted yet. We described what they tasted like.
Now we are all trying to sprout our own pea seed in a bag.

We are also growing some in soil to see which ones will grow the fastest.
We hope to plant out our sprouted seeds in our garden.
